While the media has dubbed him the new "Bieber", we can't help but find Sivan's debut more like if Trap, Jessie Ware and Lorde had some weird old lovechild. Even in the video, we see him pulling some brooding "Wildest Moments"-esque shots (along with rather random owl ones). We might just be obsessed with him already.
But the greatest thing about Sivan's debut is that we look to have a biggest contender for the YouTube/Mainstream crossover. While we have seen people like Tanya Burr get her nail and lip gloss line and Zoe "Zoella" Sugg get on the cover of Company, nobody has bigger crossover potential than Sivan. If you were not to look at the 19 year old, you could easily place Happy Little Pill in between tracks that are on the radio right now and it wouldn't stick out.
Sivan releases his debut at a time where the music industry is looking for its new young darling. It's been a while since we've had an artist that could please our ears and give our little sister's someone to put on their bedroom walls. Someone give us the EP already.
