15 Tracks That Proves Pop Kicked Arse In 2013.
Tuesday, December 31, 2013
So we're now at the end of the year - and the end of lists come in right? Well here at Tongue Loose our interests tend to fall all over the shop, and we know you're going to get so many random end of year musics lists, so here's our little twist.
Lots of things happened in 2013 - Miley twerked, we busted a Harlem Shake AND Gangham style in the same year, and too many ageing boybands got back together for our pleasure. So it's pretty fair to say that Pop might have been the superior being over the last year...and don't deny it either. Don't believe us? Here is our list - and our reasons for them.
Pop has been the one in 2013. Not only did we have some great tracks, but it also proved that the acts we might have not taken seriously in the past really come on in their owns. Reality TV show artists like One Direction and Little Mix decided to grow up, while Disney stars like Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus left lasting impressions and left us humming their catchy lyrics for hours on end.
We also had the unlikely pop heroes, acts like Panic! At The Disco and Fall Out Boy embraced the catchy chorus, and dance act Disclosure really found their ground this year with tracks like "White Noise". And of course, we have the big leagues like Lady Gaga and Justin Timberlake who we expected to give us some tunes, other wise all hell would have broken loose.
But who are our acts to watch out for in 2014? Well it seems to us it could well be the year of the female. We are seeing an interesting crop of solo artists (including Glee star Naya Rivera) that could very well turn pop on its head. We will just have to wait and see...
Either way, thank you Pop, our 2013 wouldn't have been complete without you. You better bring the tunes in 2014.
